Chemical Peels Q&A

What are chemical peels?

A chemical peel can target a number of skin issues, including signs of aging, sun spots and hyperpigmentation, acne, and acne scarring. The VI Peels® offered at Get Your Body Back Wellness Center are painless, nonsurgical procedures that use specially formulated chemicals to remove the surface layers of skin and reveal fresher, brighter, and more youthful skin.

What are the benefits of chemical peels?

Depending on your skin concerns, your provider will recommend a VI Peel formula for you. Some of the benefits of VI Peels include:

  • Reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Evening skin tone
  • Smoothing skin texture
  • Reducing hyperpigmentation and age spots
  • Brightening skin
  • Reducing inflammation and redness
  • Killing acne-causing bacteria

VI Peels are safe for all skin types and skin colors, but they should not be used by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

How are chemical peels performed?

During your visit, your provider discusses your skin concerns and goals in order to recommend the most appropriate peel for you. Then, they clean your skin to remove dirt and makeup before applying your peel.

Your peel is a liquid that is gently brushed onto your skin in layers and left on your skin for an allotted amount of time. Within 2-3 minutes, you may notice a mild tingling sensation or feeling of warmth on your skin. This sensation will go away after a few minutes.

Your provider will apply additional layers of the peel as needed in order to achieve the results you want. Once the peel has soaked into your skin, your provider will rinse any residue from your face, and you can return to your regular routine. The entire procedure typically lasts under an hour.

What can I expect after a chemical peel?

You may notice some mild skin redness after your peel. Over the next week, the outer layers of your skin will begin to flake and peel off naturally. After one week, you should see fresh, bright, smooth skin revealed.

Depending on the condition of your skin, your Get Your Body Back Wellness Center provider may recommend additional VI Peels over the next year to achieve the best results.

If you want a pain-free, nonsurgical solution to your skin issues, a chemical peel may be right for you. Call the office or book a consultation online today.
